Shanna in a Dress is your quirky best friend who refuses to wear pants. A smashing combination of humor, truth, and poignancy all wrapped up in a sweet voice, this witty wordsmith calls what she does "snarky folk pop from a clever millennial who sucks at dating." She has been performing since her days at the University of Virginia where she attracted a loyal following of fans that loved her feel-good energy, catchy melodies, and entertainingly interactive stage banter.
Shanna is a diverse songwriter with a playful setlist that manages to teeter the line masterfully of taking on complex subject matters with smart, yet accessible lyrics. Her songs are laden with clever wordplay and are relatable across all ages as she hops back and forth between the guitar, ukulele, and piano to accompany herself.
Shanna in a Dress released her first EP More Than Just a Hoar in 2012 after a successful Kickstarter campaign. She recently raised funds for her second album which is currently in production. Her style is often compared to Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillat and Jason Mraz. Shanna hosts a monthly showcase called Women in Song and dedicates much of her time to supporting other artists in the Front Range community.
Chicago Singer/Songwriter, Dave Tamkin, currently resides in Boulder, CO. He has created his own unique style of rhythmic-acoustic sounds that's based around a fresh musical vision. His shows vary from intimate solo acoustic performances to a full band experience (DTCO) encapsulating a mixture of personal lyrics and skilled songwriting set against a high-energy percussive backbone. He's shared the stage with Guster, The Samples, Brendan James, Rusted Root, Donavon Frankenreiter, Butch Walker, Freddy Jones Band, Eric Hutchinson, Willy Porter, The Violent Femmes, and Peter Mulvey to name a few. Tamkin has a style that's hard to resist. His lyrics are unabashedly honest and his passion for playing is undying.
Copper Leaf is a Denver-area indie rock band led by Sawyer Bernath. He writes songs that are often bleak, occasionally redemptive, and usually about memory, aimlessness, and/or girls. Sawyer is joined by Liz Berube, Eric Dorr, Tyler Masterson, and Jake Hyman.
This is a project about contrasts: Loud vs soft, warm vs cool, sparse vs lush. From finger-picked acoustic guitar to noisy instrumentals; bare vocals to four-part harmony. Copper Leaf wants to make you feel feelings and have fun doing it. Their music has been compared to that of Iron & Wine, Sufjan Stevens, and Fleet Foxes.
Copper Leaf's debut album, "Lay Awake", was released on November 19th, 2016. Bolderbeat had these nice things to say about it:
"...earnestly bare and other times subtle and echoey vocals..."
"...ranging from complex and pretty string melodies, to smooth horn solos, to steady percussive swings."
Allie Chipkin is a Poughkeepsie native singer-songwriter based in Boulder, CO. Allie's premiere album, Honey & Knives (2014), served as a fiery launching point for her creative journey. In 2016, Allie received Honorable Mention at the Telluride Bluegrass Troubadour's Contest, and she released her second record, Cascades, this past February.
Listeners draw comparisons to Sara Bareilles, Joni Mitchell, and Fiona Apple. Allie's soaring vocals will immediately catch your ear, and her gut-stirring lyrics will keep you around to listen. Despite digging deeply, Allie keeps life's levity fresh on her fingertips. Expect to chuckle and feel deeply - all at once - during her live performance.
